Back in October I reported that L’incontro had changed from a mini market deli to a gastro pub. Now they’ve changed their name. Still the great concept, now called Pub Urbano.
Looks like someone came up with a creative way to make use of that ginormous blank wall that is now the Rise Condo tower at Brickell City Centre. At night anyway. By day it’s still a big vast expanse of dark grey nothing. I haven’t been to Blackbird Ordinary in a while, time to stop in for happy hour at least. I remember a great handcrafted specialty cocktail menu.
Walking by today found Garzón has opened, yesterday 11/16 apparently. I’m looking forward to reviewing this restaurant, Uruguayan cuisine seems to be the new hot trend lately. At least the sign in the windows prior to opening promised “the best Uruguayan farm to table”. The website isn’t up yet and OpenTable shows a coming soon page although it lists it as Spanish cuisine. Swire Properties has also recently announced a Uruguayan restaurant in the East Hotel nearby.
At SW 9th St and Brickell Plaza, Garzón is next to the soon-to-open Baru Urbano and Tucandela.
L’incontro at 350 S. Miami Ave has been holding their grand re-opening during October. Originally opened about a year ago as a mini-market with a sandwich counter, they’ve done away with the grocery concept and added a bar and more seating, calling themselves a gastro pub now. Menu items include a cheese board with wine flights, “Lincontro Burguer”, tacos, superfood quinoa bowl, ahi tuna bowl, and homemade stone over pizzas. I love that they have Angry Orchard on draft.
The concept looks great and well executed. Unfortunately they are still in the gated Riverfront condo complex which limits the traffic passing by. They were competing against another mini market, Aura, directly across the way -the only other retail space making it in Riverfront, so here’s hoping this works out better for them. If you’re within walking distance to the S. Miami Ave bridge stop in for lunch or after work drinks sometime.
